You are currently viewing Lenten Prayer Guide: Salvation

During Lent we are using Isaiah 58 as a guide for prayer. We will pray through a different theme from that passage each week. Below is a template to help guide your time. You are welcome to use whatever is helpful and pray as God leads you.

WORSHIP

God’s Character: We want to begin our prayer time by focusing on God and worshipping Him for who He is and what He does. This week, as we pray about SALVATION, take time to focus on who God is as our SAVIOR:

  • His Love: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  -John 3:16
  • His Patience:  The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.  -2 Peter 3:9
  • His Grace:  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.  -Ephesians 2:8
  • His Mercy: Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.   1 Peter 1:3

During the song, take time to connect with God’s heart-who He is and what He does and focus on His presence with you.

Song: Back to Life

THANKSGIVING

And giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.   Colossians 1:12-24

Take time to thank God for your own salvation-

  • What has he saved you from?
  • What has he saved you for?

CONFESSION/REPENTANCE

We can confess personal sins we have committed. We can also pray a prayer of corporate confession on behalf of a people/community (see Daniel 9).

Take time to confess any areas of sin God brings to mind (personal or corporate) and ask Him to give us clean hands and pure hearts (Psalm 24).

  • Jesus, we confess that as your Body, there have been times that we have not reflected your love to those around us.  Forgive us for not being faithful witnesses and for not showing the mercy and grace to others that you have given to us. Please help us to lay down our lives for others so that they may know the great love you have for them.

INTERCESSION

Take time to pray for those you know personally who don’t yet trust Jesus as their Savior. Pray also that the Gospel would be spread through the Church here and throughout the earth.

PEOPLE FAR FROM JESUS:

  • Pray for those you know personally who are far from Jesus
  • Pray that today they would hear God’s voice and not harden their hearts, but would respond to His invitation into a relationship with Him
  • Pray their eyes would be opened and they would turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins  -Acts 26:18
  • Pray for the prodigals who have wandered away, that they would return home to their Father  -Luke 15:11-32

THE CHURCH IN MARIETTA:

  • Pray for God’s name to be made holy through the words and actions of the Church and that each congregation would be a place of salvation, healing and restoration
  • Pray the Gospel would be proclaimed in the heart language of every tribe, tongue and nation of those in our community
  • Pray the word of God would spread and the number of disciples would increase rapidly and become obedient to the faith   -Acts 6:7
  • Pray the word of Lord would grow mightily and prevail throughout Marietta  -Acts19:20

OUR PARTNERS SERVING THROUGHOUT THE WORLD:.

  • Pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you         1 Thess 3:1
  • The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.   -Matthew 9:37-38
