You are currently viewing Lent: Ways to Engage

Lent is the 40 days leading up to Easter (not including Sundays as these are considered times of joy and celebration or ‘mini-Easters’) representing the 40 days Jesus spent in the wilderness prior to His public ministry. As a sign of repentance and dedication, Christians often choose to either fast from certain foods, abstain from certain activities or incorporate different spiritual practices during these 6 weeks.

Each year we invite you to engage in some things that we do together corporately. Below are several ways we invite you to join us this season to intentionally focus on what Jesus has done for us.

Ways to engage:

Fast: fast certain foods or meals or abstain from certain activities

Morning prayer: the Sanctuary will be open Mon-Thurs for drop-in prayer from 5.30-8.30am

Prayers for the lost: we want to pray for those who don’t yet know Jesus or have not yet put their trust in Him. For a prayer guide click HERE

Bible reading plan: join by clicking HERE

Staff Devotions: posted each Wednesday on youtube, facebook and instagram

Wilderness time: David encouraged each of us to take time “in the wilderness” with God (at least a 4-5 hour window by yourself without distractions) between now and Christmas. If you are able to take that time during Lent and would like a few handholds for your time away you can find a guide HERE. If you have obstacles keeping you from being able to go out by yourself (childcare, location, etc.) please reach out to kim@stonebridgemarietta.org and we will see how we can help.
