Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you, He is the Messiah, the Lord. -Luke 2:11
As we celebrate Advent, we are reminded that we have a Savior who was willing to enter into our world and who came to our rescue as the long awaited Messiah. We want to live in light of His first coming and wait in hopeful expectation that He is coming again.
Each Sunday we’ll focus on the lectionary passage for that week and look at what it reveals about the Messiah:
- Righteous Savior (Jeremiah 33:14-16)
- Purifier/Refiner (Malachi 3:1-4)
- Mighty Warrior (Zephaniah 3:14-20)
- Shepherd/Peace (Micah 5:2-5)
As we focus on who Jesus is as our Messiah we’ll be sending out and posting something each week to help us engage in these ways:
- MONDAYS: Revelation– how is Jesus being revealed as the Messiah?
- WEDNESDAYS: Reverence– take time to worship Him for who He is.
- FRIDAYS: Response – how do we live in response?

- Reflect:
- Reflect on two aspects of Jesus as our Righteous Savior-
- He is righteous, just, and true in all His ways
- He took the penalty of our sin so that we could be made righteous before the Father
- How have you seen God’s righteousness or justice in your own life?
- What did He save you from (what sin was entangling your life before you put your trust in Him)?
- Reflect on two aspects of Jesus as our Righteous Savior-
- Pray
- Jesus, thank you for rescuing me from sin and death by bearing the punishment I deserved. Thank you for cleansing me of all my sins- removing them as far as the east is from the west. Forgive me when I stumble. Please help me to be holy as you are holy. I pray that love for you, my Righteous Savior, would compel me to live rightly.

- Read:
- 2 Corinthians 5:16-21
- Matthew 5:24
- Reflect:
- Is there anyone in your life who doesn’t know Jesus as their Righteous Savior? Ask God how He may be using you as an ambassador of reconciliation in their life. Is there anything you need to say or do?
- Is there anyone in your life you need to forgive/be reconciled to?
- Pray:
- Jesus, thank you for reconciling me to God. Please help me to be an ambassador of reconciliation- sharing the good news with others that we can be made new when we put our trust in you as our Righteous Savior. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins. Help me to forgive others as I have been forgiven.
