24 HOUR PRAYER GUIDE –July

FOCUS: The Upcoming School Year

We want to pray for the students, teachers, administrators, and parents in our communities as they return to school.

Below is a template to help guide your time. You are welcome to use whatever is helpful and pray as God leads you.

WORSHIP

During the song, take time to connect with God’s heart-who He is and what He does and focus on His presence with you.

God’s Character: This month, as we pray for our schools, take time to focus on who God is as our Father.

  • As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him. -Psalm 103:13
  • Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?  If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!    -Matthew 7:9-11
  • Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.    -James 1:17

THANKSGIVING

Take time to thank God for the ways you see Him at work in our schools and in the lives of those who work and attend there:

  • Administrators who are making wise and compassionate decisions on behalf of the teachers and students they serve
  • Teachers who are making sacrifices and generously giving their time and finances to invest in our students
  • Students who aren’t conforming to the patterns of this world, but transforming the schools they are in by their prayers and love

CONFESSION/REPENTANCE

We can confess personal sins we have committed. We can also pray a prayer of corporate confession on behalf of a people/community (see Daniel 9). Take time to confess any areas of sin God brings to mind (personal or corporate) and ask Him to give us clean hands and pure hearts (Psalm 24).

  • God, we have sinned by not defending the cause of the poor and needy in our schools. I pray you would show us how to open the door for those to whom it’s been shut.
  • Help us to “Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” Psalm 82:3-4

INTERCESSION

Pray for God’s Kingdom to come and His will to be done here on earth, in our schools, as it is in heaven.
