NEED TO KNOW: Each Sunday, staff and volunteers work hard to create a safe, fun, and meaningful experience for your children. Here are a few things you need to know to help us make church great for your little ones.
Nursery rooms are located in our nursery/preschool hall at 160 Roswell St.
Whether you are a first time guest, a returning visitor, or a regular to the Nursery, please stop at our Information Table located in our space at 164 Roswell St. This is where your children will be securely checked-in, and you will be able to enter the nursery/preschool hall.
After signing in and receiving a nametag for your child, you may walk your child to his/her classroom.
Please make sure all items belonging to your children are labeled, and that you inform your child’s leader of any allergies or health concerns.
Classrooms open 15 minutes before each service. Children’s ministry volunteers will be prepared to greet your children at that time. For security, outside doors are locked at 15 minutes after the beginning of each service. Please plan to check-in children during this 30-minute window.
Please do not pick up your children before the service ends, as it can be disruptive to other children and the classroom activities.
CHECK IN/SECURITY PROCESS: In order to provide the safest environment for your children while in our care, we follow a strict check-in process.
When you stop at our Information Table, you will sign your child in and receive a two-part security nametag. One portion of the numbered tag will stay on your child at all times. You will receive the other portion of the tag with the matching number. You must have this security tag to pick up your children! This is to ensure that no one picks them up without your permission. In the event we need to contact you during the service, a children’s ministry staff member will come get you, or the security tag number will be posted on the screen in the adult service.
For safety and stability reasons, we ask that parents say goodbye to their children at the door, instead of going into the classrooms.
Staff or volunteers monitor the entrance to the children’s area before and after every service.
All our volunteers go through a screening process and have completed a criminal background check.
Staff and volunteers are trained to adhere to “Safe Sanctuary” policies.
THE REGISTRATION PROCESS: All first-time guests are asked to register at the Information Table so we can get to know your child a little better. If you decide to make StoneBridge your church home, you may complete a registration card and your children will be added to our database, a classroom roster, assigned to a small group (where age appropriate), and your family will be added to our email list.
WELLNESS POLICY: For the protection of your child and other children, parents are requested to not bring a child who appears to be ill into the children’s ministry area. Based on the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a child should not be brought to church when any of the following exists:
- Fever in the past 24 hours
- Vomiting or diarrhea in the past 24 hours
- Common cold (onset through one week)
- Sore throat
- Any unexplained rash or skin infection
- Cloudy or green runny nose
- Pink eye or other eye infections
- Persistent cough or croup
- Any communicable disease
- Any symptoms of common childhood diseases, such as chicken pox, strep throat, etc.
- Head lice
What to Expect
INFANTS: Leaving your new baby for the first time can be overwhelming. The volunteers in our infant classrooms have been chosen for this age group because of their love for babies and their training to care for all your infant’s needs. Our main goal is to help your infant feel safe, secure, and loved. We believe even the youngest child can begin to know God and his love for them when they encounter that type of environment in a church setting. We hope the following information will help you and your baby have a great experience at church.
Please follow our security check-in procedures for your baby.
Please bring diapers, bottles, pacifiers, and any special blankets that will soothe your baby through their time at church. Label all items that belong to your baby.
As you drop off your baby, please inform volunteers of any details concerning feeding and napping schedules.
To ensure that your babies receive the best care, we adhere to safe adult to child ratios at all times.
We promote your children from one nursery room to the next based on age. Signs with age ranges are posted outside each classroom door.
TODDLERS TWOS/THREES – This is a fun and active stage in your children’s lives. We are excited to have them in our ministry and look forward to teaching them that God made their world, God made them, and God loves them. Our teaching plan begins in our toddler classroom. All activities are age-appropriate (and fun) with plenty of flexibility for the normal needs of this age group.
Since our curriculum is centered on three basic truths, you will see those truths repeated in different and creative ways throughout the year. Your toddler will learn these foundational truths about God through music, movement, and tactile experiences. Your 2- or 3-year-old will focus on a specific truth related through a Bible story, worship, and a game or craft activity.
To ensure that our classrooms are safe and to create the best possible learning environments, we adhere to safe adult to child ratios at all times.
We provide snacks in the classrooms. We serve only Cheerios in our toddler and twos/threes rooms. Because of food allergies, we do not serve any food brought in diaper bags. *If at any time we will be serving a special snack, you will find a note posted on the door outside of your child’s classroom informing you of the special food item. If your child has any allergies or special dietary needs and cannot eat what we have provided, please inform a ministry leader.
Be sure to bring extra diapers and a change of clothes. Label all items, including cups, diapers, pacifiers, etc. If your child is potty training, please be sure to communicate that to a leader. We ask that they wear pull-ups to the classrooms.
Please do not bring extra toys, since it is hard to distinguish what belongs to whom. This can cause the children unnecessary frustration when they are asked to share something that was brought from home.
Promotion from Toddlers to Two/Threes: We promote your children from one nursery room to the next based on age. Signs with age ranges are posted outside each classroom door.
Promotion from Twos/Threes to 3k preschool: Your children will be promoted to the preschool classroom based on the age cut-off set by the school system. Promotion takes place in the summer before your child would enter three year old preschool.
3K PRESCHOOL– We believe it is our responsibility to introduce preschoolers to their Heavenly Father. Before they leave the Nursery area, we want them to know: God made my world, God made me, God loves me, and Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
Since our curriculum is centered on four basic truths, you will see those truths repeated in different and creative ways throughout the year. Every month we focus on one of these basic truths, plus an additional focus on spiritual formation, like Scripture study, memory verses, prayer, or worship. With each lesson, your child will learn a Bible story and participate in fun, creative activities that help teach and apply the one key truth.
We want Sunday to be the best day of your child’s week. The following information will help you understand what the Sunday experience is like in our children’s ministry.
In order to create the most ideal teaching environment, and to ensure that our classrooms are safe, we adhere to safe adult to child ratios at all times.
Your children will be placed in small groups and assigned small group leaders.
The Sunday service for this age group is divided into several segments: As soon as children walk in the door, they participate in fun activities that are designed to grab their attention, as well as introduce the day’s lesson. Children will hear a creative presentation of the Bible story and participate in worship, where they are encouraged to sing and dance and interact with their leaders. Following the worship and story time, they will go to their small groups for a brief time to talk about what they’ve learned that day and what it means to their young lives. They will pray together as we teach them what it means to talk to God. They will also participate in several creative and fun activities designed to help them better understand the key truth of the day through hands-on experiences.
If your child is still in the process of potty training, please communicate that to the leaders and bring an extra change of clothes.
We provide snacks in the classrooms. We serve only Goldfish in our 3k preschool room. Because of food allergies, we do not allow any other food in the room. *If at any time we will be serving a special snack, you will find a note posted on the door outside of your child’s classroom informing you of the special food item. If your child has any allergies or special dietary needs and cannot eat what we have provided, please inform a ministry leader.
Do not bring toys from home, as it is very difficult to keep up with them and it causes unnecessary stress for the kids when they are asked to share with other children.
Please label all items, such as coats, bags, etc. that belong to your children.
Promotion from 3k Explorers to 4k/K room: Your children will be promoted to the next area based on the age cut-off set by the school system. Promotion takes place in the summer before your child would enter 4k preschool.
