Lent is the 40 days leading up to Easter (not including Sundays as these are considered times of joy and celebration or ‘mini-Easters’) representing the 40 days Jesus spent in the wilderness prior to His public ministry. As a sign of repentance and dedication, Christians often choose to either fast from certain foods, abstain from certain activities or incorporate different spiritual practices during these 6 weeks.
Each year we invite you to engage in something that we do together corporately. This year, as a church, we want to focus on devoting ourselves to the study, observance and teaching of scripture (to hear more on this you can watch the message from Sunday at the link below).
One way we will be doing that is by following a Bible Reading Plan on the You Version Bible App that walks through the gospel accounts of the last week of Jesus’ ministry. If you would like to read along using that plan you can find it at the link below.
Whether you use this plan or another, we encourage you to make more time to read the Bible over the next 47 days of Lent knowing and trusting that it is God’s desire to reveal Himself to you and a primary way He does that is through His Word.
