John Wallace Carpenter was the youngest of three children born on October 23, 1998 to Monroe and Julie Carpenter. He was welcomed home to heaven on July 21, 2018 as the results injuries he sustained from an automobile accident. He was a warm, loving, kind, son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend.
John attended Hillgrove High School and graduated from Cumberland Christian Academy in 2017. He completed one year of undergraduate studies at Marion Military Institute in Marion, Alabama beforedeciding to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. John grew up in Marietta, Ga, and from a very early age was making people smile; he was known for his outgoing spirit and jokester nature. John was an avid outdoorsman, and loved spending his time hunting, fishing and scuba diving, his latest adventure. He also participated and loved playing goalie in both lacrosse and soccer. He was active in his youth group at Stonebridge Church and took mission trips to Costa Rica, Barbados and to Denver, Colorado to share the love of Jesus. John also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in October 2016.
But most of all, John loved people and he delighted in taking care of his friends and family, whether that meant folding them into bear hugs or making them laugh. John was genuine with no agenda. He loved you for who you were… a true gentle giant.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Leo and Carol Carpenter, his maternal grandparents, Jud and Jaqueline Carter, and cousin Brittany Schwartz.
He is survived by his parents, Monroe and Julie Carpenter, his sister Amy, and brother Keylon, his aunt Joan Carter and cousin Jackie Stringer, his aunt and uncle: Matt and Trisha Yount and cousins Jacob (Kindra) and Phillip Yount, his aunt Leona Cook and cousins Christopher (Cassandra) and Jason Cook, his aunt Christina Carpenter, his cousins Carla and Terry Williams and cousins Cheyenne and Cierra Williams.
